We organize day downwinders in the Emerald Sea for experienced kiters. Indeed, the launching and navigation conditions being more technical than in Sakalava Bay, beginners will not be able to participate in Downwind. However, kiters who do not have the level as well as the uninitiated will be able to join the outing. The boat trip to cross the lagoon as well as the day spent on the Suarez islet are the must-sees of the region and it would be a shame to leave Madagascar without having seen this jewel that is the Emerald Sea.
For the second Downwind, the departure is exactly the same as the first, but instead of reaching Suarez islet we head towards the swimming pool spot to the north of the lagoon. Allow around ten km to reach Nosy Antalibe (the swimming pool). Ride around the pool area all morning then return to Suarez Island for lunch.
On the program, departure in 4×4 from Madakitecamp around 7:30 a.m. to reach the village of Ramena where the boat will be waiting for us at 8 a.m. Then, allow around 45 minutes to cross the lagoon by sail to reach Suarez islet which will be the base camp for the day. Ride in the lagoon and in the waves of the Emerald Sea for experienced kiters. Relaxation, massage and snorkeling for others…
2 Downwind will be offered to you to choose from. The first consists of rigging the kitesurfing equipment at the entrance to the lagoon for the crossing to Suarez islet, accompanying the boat. The ride is approximately 5 km long. Then, kite for the day around the islet and in the reef waves for those who have the skill. Lunch will be served in a hut in the shade of coconut trees. On the menu, fresh fish caught in the lagoon, crab and seafood…
The bravest will be able to get back on the Upwind and the others will be able to reach the islet with the boat that followed us to the swimming pool. For the kite ascent, good physical condition is required as well as good upwind technique. Upwind about 1 hour to reach Suarez islet.
As with the Downwind in the Emerald Sea, the Upwind outing to Andovokonko Bay requires a good kite level. An upwind ride departing from Madakitecamp for approximately 45 minutes. Part of the ascent is carried out in the open sea before reaching the Andovokonko lagoon located 3 km south of Sakalava bay.
On the program there is some very good flat to ride, but also some small reef waves. A surprise will be reserved for you. Discovery of a secret spot south of the main bay with a dream beach and super flat for freestyle! The trip to Andovokonko Bay lasts approximately 2 hours round trip.
